Community & History

Little Elm is a progressive, 4.8-mile community that is home to 14,000 people. Residents enjoy a leisurely lifestyle founded upon small-town values and the privacy of living on a heavily treed lakefront. The steady growth of Little Elm mirrors the road development in Denton County that has made it more accessible to both Denton and Dallas-Fort Worth. With growth centered along Interstate 35 West, Denton County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas.
Little Elm is located on Farm Road 720 and an arm of Lewisville Lake, 12 miles southeast of Denton in east central Denton County. The Elm Fork of the Trinity River, which flows through Denton County, was dammed in 1920 to create Lewisville Lake, a prime location for affordable real estate development. The lake is known for its breathtaking waterfront and close proximity to numerous area job centers. Recreational opportunities abound in the area.
Located in Collin County, the neighboring town of Prosper began in 1902 with the coming of the railroad and was incorporated in 1914. Farmers growing cotton on the fertile land named the town Prosper because the harvest was especially bountiful that year. Prosper residents value the small-town atmosphere of their community, and they enjoy proximity to the shopping, restaurants, nightlife, major attractions and sporting events offered in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The Prosper Sports Association also ensures that there are sports leagues for all ages.
Real estate is affordable in both towns. Little Elm and Prosper offer a variety of single-family homes and a few condominiums and townhouses. Students in the Little Elm Independent School District are served by four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Children in Prosper attend schools in the exemplary Prosper Independent School District, and Collin County Community College is nearby.

Recreation

The conditions are always right for fishing on Lake Lewisville -- especially on an air-conditioned (and heated) fishing barge. Cast off for fishing indoors or outside in the shade of the covered pier. It's open 24 hours a day, and includes a snack bar, restrooms, and a bait & tackle shop where you can even rent a rod and reel. It's a reel fishing experience!

Surrounded by 9,000 protected acres and with an average depth of 25 feet, Lake Lewisville is big enough for all kinds of recreational fun while still leaving room for some of the biggest fish this side of Moby Dick. (This is Texas, after all!) Take a walk on the wild side and explore miles of scenic trails all around the lake.
Lake Lewisville is a Corps of Engineers reservoir that is immensely popular for water sports and outdoor recreation. The city of Lewisville manages Lake Park on the south shore of the lake. The park offers picnic areas, RV and tent camping, a pavilion, a 24-hour fishing barge, a swimming beach and excellent public facilities. Hidden Cove Park on the east shore is privately owned and operated. It includes all the above amenities, plus screened shelters and three group pavilion facilities. Marinas, boat rentals, launch ramps and anglers' supplies are also available.
Fishing on Lake Lewisville includes large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish, white bass and spectacular hybrid white/striped bass. Swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, sailboarding, camping, biking and picnicking are all part of what makes Lake Lewisville so much fun.
Seven beautiful and challenging golf courses in the immediate area make Lewisville the golf mecca of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Take your pick from the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy, Bridlewood Golf Club, Coyote Ridge Golf Course, Lake Park Golf Course, the Golf Club of Castle Hills, the Tribute Golf Club and Tour 18.
